ZHAW robotics is a university-wide interdisciplinary hub at ZHAW, bringing together expertise in AI and robotics from across the university. We connect technical, human, organisational and societal perspectives through applied research, collaboration with practice, and education. Our aim is to foster knowledge exchange and contribute to the responsible development and use of AI and robotics.

We offer...

  • Applied research and development in robotics, mechatronics, automation and AI.
  • Industry-oriented R&D partnerships, from project ideas and prototyping through to applied research and technology development.
  • Autonomous systems and intelligent robotic applications.
  • Human-robot collaboration, including safe and intuitive interaction between humans and robots.
  • Physical AI and embodied intelligence, including research with humanoid robots.
  • Robot control and advanced control systems, including fail-safe control and visualisation.
  • Sensing, actuators and mechatronics for advanced robotic systems.
  • Service and assistive robotics, including technologies supporting people in industrial and everyday environments.
  • Research infrastructure and laboratories for developing, testing and validating robotic technologies.

We are looking for...

  • Industry and research partners for collaborative R&D projects in robotics, AI, automation and mechatronics.
  • Technology partners in sensing, actuators, control systems, AI, computer vision and autonomous systems.
  • Applications and use cases for industrial, service and assistive robotics.
  • Human-robot collaboration projects, particularly around safe, intuitive and effective interaction.
  • Pilot projects and test environments where emerging robotic technologies can be evaluated in real-world settings.
  • Interdisciplinary collaborations spanning engineering, AI, human-machine interaction and the societal impact of robotics.
  • Companies seeking applied research expertise, prototypes, demonstrators and technology-transfer opportunities.
